Bill: “I’m now starting to participate in life”

BILL FROM CWMBRAN served in the US Air Force in Vietnam, and turned to Change Step for support while undergoing treatment for chronic PTSD.
Change Step mentor Damon has provided specialist support as well as reassurance, friendship and a listening ear to both Bill and his wife.
Damon also sought additional support from other agencies by approaching a housing association and other veteran charities.
Bill, 77, said: “I was in a very dark place, in a corner I couldn’t get out of – I couldn’t face going on.
“Damon has been there for both me and my wife and provided reassurance, friendship and a listening ear.
“I am now in a situation where I feel more positive, and I am now starting to participate in life.”

Change Step have helped more than 1,200 veterans and their families in Wales by providing dedicated services for those in crisis, older veterans, and those with mental health and substance misuse needs.
