I started working for CAIS 9 years ago when I was appointed the DAWN Centre Receptionist/ Administrator as part of the Client Administrative Service Team (CAST).

Over the last 9 years I have had a few different roles within CAIS, but for the most part my role has been the Appointments Team Administrator. On the 1st April 2014 I was appointed the Change Step and Listen In Administrator/ Co-ordinator based at the new Change Step office in Colwyn Bay.

Change Step is a CAIS led and DACW managed all-Wales peer mentoring and advice service delivered by veterans for veterans and others with post traumatic stress disorder and a range of psychosocial problems who want to make positive changes to their lives.

Listen In is Change Step’s sister service which is a support service for family members and carers of veterans, equipping them with the awareness and skills to recognise signs of mental distress in their loved ones and providing access to practical and emotional support.

I am now based at the Change Step office, Imperial Building, Princes Drive, Colwyn Bay. The Change Step office opened on the 1st April 2014. Since we opened we have had a number of people drop in to refer to the service and have successfully, through partnership working with the Royal British Legion helped a homeless veteran find a place to live.

I am sure there will be many obstacles and challenges to overcome within this new role, but I am look forward to embracing these and helping to develop Change Step and Listen In.
