Crisis support

Change Step’s veteran peer mentors offer effective one-to-one support for veterans in crisis across Wales.

We help people in need get speedy access to the services and resources they need to combat poor mental health, substance misuse, and other issues.

Funded by the Royal British Legion‘s external grants programme, our mentors are there for those who may pose a risk to themselves or others, and who need urgent support.

Co-occuring mental health and substance misuse issues

Dedicated crisis management mentors provide peer support to veterans throughout Wales – and specifically to those unable to access other services due to co-occurring mental health and substance misuse issues, and any associated psychological and social problems.

Change Step helps those veterans who fall between the gaps in other services.

“It can be very difficult for veterans in crisis to reach out and engage with services.

“This community project will assist veterans to bridge a gap in support and help people take back control of their lives.

“The mentors will provide friendship and practical support, enhancing recovery, and engagement that meets the individual needs of the veterans.”
